Malaysia won the bid to host the XVI Commonwealth Games on
July 21, 1992, in Barcelona, Spain, home to the 1992
Olympic Games.
It was a day of national pride for Malaysia,
being the first Asian country to ever host the Games since
its inception in 1930. It was also a day of universal recognition
of Malaysia as a country with great potential and ability.
Our bid was proudly called 'Share It With Malaysia' to truly
reflect the sharing and giving nature of Malaysians.
