A total of 1200 tickets were sold and officials said the turnout was a record of sort and it augurs well for the game which until then has never been a crowd puller.
People, from different walks of life, clad in their traditional or normal outfit, were present to cheer and lend support to two of the best teams in this competition.
The Yang Di Pertuan Agong Tuanku Ja'afar was also present to watch top cricketers in action along with his son, Tunku Tan Sri Imran, a staunch supporter and top cricketer in his younger days.
Cricket, which is making an auspicious start in the Commonwealth Games, has not been able to generate much interest among the sports loving fans here.
The complex nature of the game could probably be the minus factor but all the same Selvaraja, one of the keener spectators present said, "We do not know the basics of this game but we are here to watch which team wins the final."
Athletes from the respective countries made up part of the crowd to add colour to the final and many had travelled miles to get the piece of the action.
