OLYMPIC BID GATHERS MOMENTUM

KUALA LUMPUR, 21 Sept 98 (Bernama):

The president of the International Olympic Council, Juan Antonio Samaranch, was so impressed by the squash facilities at Bukit Jalil that he has asked two senior officials to specially fly down from Lausanne to prepare a detailed report.

Samaranch asked Alex Gilady, IOC member for Israel and consultant to NBC television and Manuel Romero, head of IOC's Technical Broadcasting Unit, to view the braodcast of squash at the Commonwealth Games.

"This is a very positive move by the IOC," the president of the Squash Rackets Association of Malaysia, Dato Alex Lee said.

"Mr. Samaranch has asked me to meet him on November 24 at Lausanne. Lee said.

"I shall also have a meeting with Gilbert Felli, head of sports programming for the IOC. This is very important because any new discipline needs to have Felli's approval."
