at the National Sports Complex, Bukit Jalil. There is a permanent seating
capacity for 4,000 and temporary seats for 1,000. The complex features a
diving pool, competition pool, and training pool.
The diving pool has been designed in accordance to the state-of-the-art
technology for diving. The pool measures 25 m x 25 m with a depth of 5 m.
There are four underwater windows for video filming. There are six 1-m
springboards and three 3-m springboards. Divers will be kept warm in the
warm-up pool while waiting for their turns.
An adjustable diving platform (that can be adjusted from 0.5 m to 3 m) is
operated by a hydraulic cylinder. A 1-m diving platform has also been
built-in for the training of novice divers. Platform diving for the
competition will be carried out at 5 m, 7.5 m, and 10 m.
Facilities have been meticulously designed to accommodate synchronized
swimming. All safety railings on the anti-slip platform are made of
stainless steel SS316 piping with a nominal diameter of 40 mm for better
grip. Provisions have been made for a lift/elevator to transport divers up
and down the diving platform.
All floodlights are adjustable to reduce glare. Water sprays are fitted to
prevent formation of a 'mirror' surface in the pool. A bubble unit has been
incorporated as a safety measure during training. The brightness of lighting
around the pool area will be maintained at 1,500 lux.
The ten-lane pool measures 25 m x 51.53 m with a depth of 3 m at the
starting/plunging end and a depth of 2 m at the end of the pool. During the
competition, only eight lanes will be utilized. The pool will be equipped
with state-of-the-art wave-breakers, lane ropes, moving bulkhead in
partitioning the pool, starting blocks, backstroke flags and false-start set
The eight-lane training pool measures 20 m x 50 m with a depth of 1.8 m. A
movable floor covering 20 m x 20 m has been provisioned for beginner's benefits.
At least 30 video cameras, a hovering sky cam, a dive cam, underwater
cameras (stationary and mobile) will be installed in the complex at vantage
Slow-motion and super-motion cameras will also be installed by the host
broadcaster to capture the actions of the athletes during the competition.
Two rail tracks have been provided to accommodate/transport the video
cameras during the filming of the event.
Facilities include utilities for the disabled, temperature control, two
generators of 300 KVA each for emergency security lighting and three ozone
generators for water disinfection. Chlorine is marginally introduced at a
nominal value of 0.2 ppm.
The functional areas of the aquatics complex are integrated on two levels
and are accommodated in two wings. The western wing provides areas for the
press, VIPs, and the competition management with each area having separate
entrances and a direct link to the grandstand. For functional reasons, the
areas are connected to the lower pool level by staircase.
The southern wing comprises areas for competitors and the administration.
Separation of competitors, spectators, and the administration is achieved by
having their entrances located at different levels.
There are 10 team-changing areas, each with individual changing cubicles,
lockers and shower rooms, catering not only for competition and training
needs but also for public perusal during certain periods.
